AppleTV+ To Expand Children's Content With 'Yo Gabba Gabba!'

Odds are that most Playlist readers are not avid “Yo Gabba Gabba!” watchers. But in the ever-fragmented streamer landscape, picking a platform that has content for your kids is an increasingly important part of the equation. Sure, AppleTV+ has a lot of great television aimed at adults — including, but not limited to, “Mythic Quest” and “Ted Lasso” — but Netflix throws a lot more weight around when it comes to family-friendly programming.

So it is kind of a big deal that AppleTV+ is making a play for the children’s market, if only because it makes it that much easier to justify carrying another monthly subscription. According to Deadline, the entire “Yo Gabba Gabba!” library has been purchased by AppleTV+, meaning every season from 2007 to 2015 will soon appear on the streaming platform. Even better, AppleTV+ has ordered 20 new episodes of the half-hour show, with a promise to reimagine the series for a new generation of music fans.

The original “Yo Gabba Gabba!” series was a show that taught children life lessons through song and dance. Odds are that AppleTV+ will also continue the “Yo Gabba Gabba!” tradition of incredible guests stars both inside and outside the music industry — previous musical guests on the show have included artists like Jack Black, Questlove, Devo, band of horses, The Flaming Lips, Mos Def, Bootsy Collins, and My Chemical Romance (just to name a few).
