'Stranger Things' Season 2 Brings More Horror

The makers of “Stranger Things” are no doubt well aware of the expectations on their shoulders following the smash hit first season. The breakout Netflix series is easily the streaming service’s most buzzworthy show, and while there has been plenty of promotion about the upcoming second season, story details are being kept tight. What we do know is that Will Byers is back, but changed from his journey into The Upside Down. Beyond that, it sounds like there are more monsters coming.

If you watched the first teaser for “Stranger Things” season two, you likely noticed the big, spider-like monster that capped it off, and naturally, it’s going to play a role in the upcoming episodes. “The Shadow Monster, the new one, the big one in the sky, that was crazy for us,” Finn Wolfhard told TV Guide.

And while the terror during the first season was mostly kept in the dark except for key moments, this time around, we’re going to get a lot more screen time with the monsters (yes, plural) that are coming.

“Hiding the monsters can be more effective than seeing it, so restraint can be a good thing,” co-showrunner Ross Duffer told Variety.

“Last season, a lot of the horror and a lot of what was happening with Will was off screen in the Upside down. That’s not the case [in Season 2]. The horror is more up-close and personal,” he noted during a Netflix event this week (via TVLine).
