Here's The Rumored Reason Why Lucasfilm Isn't Developing An Obi-Wan Kenobi Spinoff Yet

Ewan McGregor has long made clear he’d love to reprise his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the “Star Wars” universe, and last month, even proposed a two-part spinoff movie. But like they are with all of their plans until they’re officially announced, Lucasfilm has remained mum on the matter, but perhaps not for the reasons you might think.

**Spoilers ahead** With a movie about a young Han Solo in the works, it’s not unreasonable to suggest that other characters will eventually get their own sideline adventures too, but it seems Lucasfilm isn’t quite done with Obi-Wan Kenobi in the main saga. “I have heard rumors that the one reason they haven’t moved sooner on Obi-Wan is that they’re not done with Obi-Wan quite yet in the saga films. So I wouldn’t be surprised to see an Obi-Wan [solo film] happen beyond ‘Episode IX,’ ” he said.

Well, that’s plenty to chew on with Rian Johnson’s ‘Episode VIII’ on the horizon. With Luke Skywalker back in the fold, could we see him communing again with Force ghost Obi-Wan Kenobi? That would be… interesting…
