Stylish First Trailer For Adam Wingard's 'Death Note'

The debate rages on about whether Netflix is saving cinema or destroying it, but those in the former camp will certainly want to point to “Death Note” to bolster their argument. The streaming service picked up “The Guest” and “You’re Next” director Adam Wingard‘s film after Warner Bros. dropped it last year, and whether or not the DC Films studio will regret it remains to be seen. But certainly, the first trailer for the film looks stylish as hell.

Starring Nat Wolff, Margaret Qualley, Keith Stanfield, Paul Nakauchi, Shea Whigham, and Willem Dafoe, and based on the massively popular manga, the story follows a student who discovers a mystical notebook that has the power to kill any person whose name he writes in it, and decides to use it to launch a vigilante campaign against criminals. And it’s probably safe to say there are some real consequences coming his way.

“Death Note” hits Netflix on August 25th.
