'30 Rock' Revival Has Been Discussed Says Actress Jane Krakowski

What’s much easier than coming up with a brand-new idea that might become the next big thing on television? Well, how about just bringing back a show that has already existed! That seems to be the trend on TV nowadays, with “revival” being the new buzzword. And now we might be able to add “30 Rock” to the already crowded list that includes “Will & Grace,” “Roseanne,” and “Murphy Brown.”

According to an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, “30 Rock” star Jane Krakowski, who can currently be seen on Netflix’sUnbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” talked about the possibility of a revival, saying, “[A revival] would be a dream come true. We all had the greatest time on that show.”

She goes on to say that “there’s definitely been talk and conversations” but no real plans have been made. “I know it’s something the fans would love and we would love.”

As much as the fans would love a revival of the sitcom, it seems as if it’s going to be a scheduling nightmare. With Tracy Morgan just launching his own TV show, “The Last O.G.,” Alec Baldwin doing movies (and the occasional “SNL” cameo), and Tina Fey as busy as ever, getting the gang back together might not be as simple as we hope. And the last thing fans want is an “Arrested Development” scenario. That show experienced scheduling issues causing the cast to be spread out, with a barely cohesive storyline.

“Right now, [reboots are] the trend,” Krakowski concludes. “And I would be thrilled if the trend continued over into ‘30 Rock.’”

Sadly, she’s absolutely right, and it doesn’t look like the trend is going anywhere. So, if the revival is an actual possibility, and if new, original programming really is a thing of the past, then NBC could do a lot worse than bring back “30 Rock.”
