Got a Tip?

Bryan Cranston Has The Best Agent In Hollywood, Now Joins ‘Gangster Squad’

Come Christmas time, we hope Bryan Cranston gets something really nice for his agent because the actor has been lining up one solid film after another. Just yesterday, Cranston boarded Ben Affleck‘s “Argo” and barely twenty-four hours have passed and now he’s on another high-profile project.

Variety reports that the “Breaking Bad” star has now joined the hot Warner Bros. crime pic, “Gangster Squad.” Boasting a ridiculously stacked cast already, the film is based on a series of articles in the L.A. Times by Paul Lieberman and was picked up soon after its publication in 2008 by Warner Bros. who, in turn, hired former L.A. cop-turned-novelist Will Beall to adapt. The major focus of Lieberman’s article was a specialized L.A.P.D. unit set up in the ‘40s to fight the growing influence of the East Coast Mafia, namely that from infamous gangster Mickey Cohen, a mogul who started as muscle for Al Capone in Chicago. Sean Penn will play Cohen with Ryan Gosling and Josh Brolin as the two cops determined to bring him down. Anthony Mackie plays Rocky Washington, ‘the Sheriff of Central Avenue,’ the first black lieutenant in the LAPD who is recruited to join the elite unit fronted by Gosling and Brolin. Michael Pena rounds things out in an unspecified role. So who will Cranston play in this pile of testosterone? Max Kennard, a Texas transplant to the LAPD with his own brand of justice.

Ruben Fleischer is gearing up to direct the film which will roll late summer/early fall, and yes, we can’t fucking wait. And oh yeah, as for Cranston, here are just some of the movies he has coming up: “Drive,” “Contagion,” “Red Tails,” “John Carter,” “Total Recall,” “Rock Of Ages,” “Argo” and now this. Better get that Christmas shopping started early Bry…
