That Cute Kid From ‘The Nanny’ Is All Grown Up
Former child actress (“Mr. Nanny” and “The Hand That Rocks the Cradle“) and current “Californication” star Madeline Zima is taking a step forward from her TV career and has booked the lead in “Storage,” a psychological thriller from British director Matt Winn. Winn is known for his commercial and ad work, as well as his feature “January 2nd,” which made the festival rounds. Co-written with newcomer Chris Denne, the thriller follows “a young woman who discovers a terrifying secret when she becomes trapped in an underground storage facility with a group of strangers.” Sounds positively claustrophobic.
The sadly defunct UK Film Council was the genesis for the script, as its concept won a screenwriting competition put on by the organization. It was in development with Lionsgate UK and UK Film Council, until it was snapped up by Atlantic Picture Company with producers Mark Shields and Kirk Weddell on board. Exec producer Gareth Jones commented that the script, “is a real page turner with great characters,” and we are definitely intrigued by the casting of Zima and the team behind the film. Glad to see some of those UK Film Council projects finding good homes in the wake of the organization’s demise. THR
