Got a Tip?

Pixar’s ‘Brave’, ‘A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas’ & More Get Release Dates

‘Another Earth’ Arrives This Summer, ‘The Apparition’ Scared Into 2012

With opening weekends for a film now proving more and more important in the do-or-die atmosphere of Hollywood blockbusters, it’s no surprise that jockeying for release dates now starts far in advance, as studios and distributors hope to make the right gamble for their movies. So with that in mind, a handful of films got pushed around over the past day or so.

Pixar has moved “Brave,” one of the few non-sequel films they have on the way in the next little while, from June 15 to June 22, 2012. The move now pits the movie against “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter,” takes it away from squaring off against the Adam Sandler/Andy Samberg vehicle “I Hate You Dad” and schedules it a full two weeks after “Madagascar 3” which opens on June 8, 2012 giving parents a chance for their wallets to catch up.

Meanwhile, Warner Bros. has slotted “A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas” on November 4th. It will face stiff competition from Brett Ratner‘s Ben Stiller and Eddie Murphy led “Tower Heist” with “Puss In Boots” also battling for audience members. Over at Fox Searchlight, recent Sundance and SXSW buzz title “Another Earth” is being given a juicy July 22nd release, where it will square off against “Captain America: The First Avenger” and “Friends With Benefits.”

And oh yeah, in case you are one of the five people who care: Ashley Greene‘s horror movie “The Apparition,” previously scheduled for a September 9, 2011 has been bumped to an unspecified date in 2012. [The Wrap/Deadline/Collider]
