Premiering last spring at the Tribeca Film Festival and then not seen elsewhere for the rest of 2013, we had nearly forgotten about “Adult World.” Now, the comedy is very much back on the radar with a brand new trailer ahead of its release next month.
Starring Emma Roberts, John Cusack, Evan Peters, Shannon Woodward, Cloris Leachman and John Cullum, the film from director Scott Coffey tells the story of Amy Anderson, a college grad in poetry, convinced she is the next big thing of the literary world. But rejection letters combined with rising financial debt for her to take a job at an adult bookstore, but she may have another chance at fulfilling her dreams when falls under the tutelage of the cranky punk poety Rat Billings. Yes, it’s a mix of ingredients that add up to quirky, and while it didn’t quite work for us, perhaps it will for you.
Featuring a score by Wolf Parade and Divine Fits frontman Dan Boeckner, “Adult World” opens in theaters and VOD on Valentine’s Day. Watch below.
