Well, this was one of the worst kept secrets of the last little while. Grammy winning Brit sensation Sam Smith has long been rumored to be singing the theme song for the next Bond film, "Spectre." And it was just a couple of months ago that he straight up denied he had the gig. "I actually have no idea. People seem to think I’m doing it but I have absolutely no idea what’s going on," he told Capital London Breakfast Show in July. "I’m being deadly serious. I really think I would know by now! I heard Ellie Goulding was going to do it, I heard loads of different things. It’s definitely not me." Well, it is.

Albert R. Broccoli’s EON Productions, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, and Sony Pictures Entertainment have officially announced that Sam Smith will sing "Writing’s On The Wall," the theme song for "Spectre." Now it will be a job of keeping the track from leaking. The tune will be released worldwide on September 25th, and for those who want some trivia – it’s the first Bond song recorded by a solo male Brit artist since 1965.
“This is one of the highlights of my career. I am honoured to finally announce that I will be singing the next Bond theme song. I am so excited to be a part of this iconic British legacy and join an incredible line up of some of my biggest musical inspirations. I hope you all enjoy the song as much as I enjoyed making it,” Smith said.
"Spectre" opens on November 6th.
