Got a Tip?

Watch: Go Grindhouse With The Trailer For ’70s-Set Thriller ‘Carnage Park’

We recently highlighted a dozen directors who are making their name in horror movies outside the studio system, and while Mickey Keating didn’t make the list, there’s no reason to think he might not be on the next one. The writer/director has already earned attention in genre circles for efforts “Pod” and “Darling,” and his latest, “Carnage Park,” is certain to shine a great light on Keating with its grindhouse flavor.

Starring Ashley Bell, Pat Healy, James Landry Hébert, Larry Fessenden, Michael Villar, Alan Ruck, Graham Skipper, Bob Bancroft, and Andy Greene, the movie follows a bank robbery and hostage taking that goes very, very wrong. Here’s the official synopsis:

This pure-pulp thrill ride jumps between past and present as it pieces together the puzzle of a shocking crime. It’s 1978 and a bank robbery gone wrong leaves Vivian (The Last Exorcism’s Ashley Bell) the hostage of two criminals on the run. But things go from bad to off-the-rails berserk when she and her captors wind up on the sun-baked desert outpost of a deranged ex-military sniper (Pat Healy), who ensnares them in his deadly game of cat and mouse. Rising horror auteur Mickey Keating (Pod, Darling) directs this gritty, grisly homage to the glory days of grindhouse cinema.

“Carnage Park” hits theaters and VOD on July 1st. Watch the trailer above.
