Got a Tip?

‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Might Be The Shortest Marvel Movie To Date

It looks like the Marvel Cinematic Universe is going to some extremes with its upcoming pictures. Earlier this week we learned that “Avengers: Infinity War” is shaping up to be the longest film in the series, which makes a lot of sense given the plentiful narrative ground it has to cover. However, on the other end of the spectrum, “Thor: Ragnaork” isn’t going to demand too much of your time.

Speaking with Collider at San Diego Comic Con, director Taika Waititi revealed that the third Thor movie is keeping things trim, and light on its feet. In fact, it might just be the shortest MCU effort to date.

“The cut right now, I reckon it’s about 100 minutes. It’s not gonna be a very, very long film. I think that stories are better when you leave them wanting more, and this film moves at a clip, it’s got stuff happening all the time,” the director explained. “I think people are still gonna feel exhausted by the end, they’ve been on this big journey and stuff, so I don’t think we need the film to be three hours.”

In case you’re wondering, the shortest MCU movie at the moment is “The Incredible Hulk,” which clocks in at 112 minutes.

While we’re not surprised that Waititi, a filmmaker known for his breezy comedies, doesn’t want to saddle the “Thor: Ragnarok” with too much baggage, it does mean whatever narrative curveballs that are in store will come quickly. Remember, this movie is supposed change the MCU “drastically” as it heads into “Avengers: Infinity War,” so it’ll be interesting to see how it all shakes out. But don’t worry, you’ll see plenty more footage on the eventual home video release, as Waititi promises a lot of deleted scenes.
