Got a Tip?

Exclusive Clip From Jim Hosking’s Comedy ‘An Evening With Beverly Luff Linn’ Attempts To Explain “Poo Nuts”

If you’re not familiar with filmmaker Jim Hosking’s first feature film, “The Greasy Strangler,” then you’re missing out on one of the most interesting, unique, and hilarious films of the last 5 years. In only one film, Hosking was able to put his indelible stamp on what type of film he wants to make. Think Wes Anderson, but with a very dark, even more offbeat sense of humor. And with his next film, “An Evening with Beverly Luff Linn,” Hosking proves that ‘Strangler’ was just the beginning.

And in honor of the film’s pending release on October 19, we’re happy to present an exclusive look at the film with a new clip featuring two of the film’s stars, Aubrey Plaza and Jemaine Clement. The title of the clip is “Poo Nuts,” and if you think that’s some clever, misleading title, you’d be wrong. Hosking shows in the clip the exact sense of humor he is putting forth in his film. It’s silly, stylish, and doesn’t hold back. If the clip says it’s about “Poo Nuts,” then you better believe that you’ll understand exactly why Clement’s Colin Keith character doesn’t eat the snacks at a bar.

It’s been a while since we saw ‘Beverly Luff Linn’ at the Sundance Film Festival, and we’re excited that the comedy is getting a proper release this month. The story follows Plaza’s Lulu Danger as she attempts to track down the titular Beverly Luff Linn after a bitter fight with her no-good husband. While the premise might sound fairly standard, the film is anything but.

Joining Plaza and Clement in the incredible cast are Emile Hirsh, as Shane Danger (the front-runner for best character name of 2018), and the always-hilarious Craig Robinson as the aforementioned Luff Linn.

“An Evening with Beverly Luff Linn” hits select theaters on VOD/Digital HD on October 19. If you’re the type of film fan that thinks comedies are playing it safe and are woefully unfunny, you owe it to yourself to give Jim Hosking’s latest a shot.

Here is the official synopsis for the film and the exclusive clip:

After getting fired by her scheming husband Shane Danger (Emile Hirsch) from his cappuccino shop, dissatisfied Lulu Danger (Aubrey Plaza) is stunned when a TV commercial for “An Evening With Beverly Luff Linn For One Magical Night Only” reveals a mysterious man from her past (Craig Robinson). When Shane and his bumbling cohorts steal the cashbox from Lulu’s adopted vegan brother Adjay (Sam Dissanayake), specialist Colin (Jemaine Clement) enters the fray to retrieve the stolen funds. But Lulu seizes the opportunity to run off in search of her mystery man—and events only become stranger from there. This is a story of love, theft, athletic swimming, and a magical magical event.
