It appears that we now know who is going to make Robert Pattinson look good as Bruce Wayne, aka Batman, in the upcoming superhero film ‘The Batman’ from director Matt Reeves. The filmmaker has decided to stick with someone he knows and go with director of photography Greig Fraser for the job.
THR is reporting that Fraser has agreed to be the cinematographer on the upcoming superhero reboot film that sees Reeves and Pattinson take over the franchise that was last seen with Ben Affleck donning the cowl and cape in “Justice League” and “Batman v. Superman.”
“It’s great to be working with Matt again,” Fraser said. “The ‘Batman’ franchise is iconic and it’s a privilege to now be able to visualize it in my own way. Especially with the cumulative creative potential of all the talent and technicians we have in front of and behind the camera.”

Fraser and Reeves previously worked together on the 2010 film “Let Me In.” Since that film, over the last decade, the DP has worked on projects like “Zero Dark Thirty,” “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” “Vice,” “Foxcatcher,” and “Lion.” The latter of which earned Fraser an Oscar nomination. Currently, Fraser is in production on the long-awaited “Dune” adaptation from director Denis Villeneuve.
With a pedigree like that, it’s clear why Reeves would go back to Fraser for ‘Batman.’ The upcoming Warner Bros. film has a lot of expectations, both critically and financially. Before Affleck’s short run, filmmaker Christopher Nolan turned the ‘Batman’ franchise from a ‘90s joke to a serious franchise with awards potential, thanks to his films “Batman Begins,” “The Dark Knight,” and “The Dark Knight Rises.”
It’s no longer good enough to just make a serviceable superhero film feature Batman. Fans expect something special with each and every film with the Dark Knight at the center.
We’ll see what Fraser has in store for fans with “The Batman,” when it arrives in theaters on June 21, 2021.
