Got a Tip?

Sony Pushes ‘Spider-Man 4’ Release Two Weeks After ‘The Odyssey’ To July 31, 2026

While we’re trying to figure out what villains or heroes could be showing up in the next Spider-Man adventure, Sony Pictures announced over the weekend that they will be releasing “Spider-Man 4” a week later next summer after giving the latest MCU installment a prime spot on July 31, 2026.

This now gives the superhero pic two weeks of breathing room from the upcoming Christopher Nolan movie “The Odyssey,” which also stars Holland alongside Matt Damon, Charlize Theron, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, and more.

Director Jon Watts (“Wolfs”) had overseen the last trilogy of films as Marvel/Sony has tasked Destin Daniel Cretton to take the reigns on the follow-up to “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” which earned nearly $2 billion at the global box office. Of course, Cretton is no stranger to the world of Marvel having worked on “Shang Chi & The Legend of The Ten Rings,” the upcoming “Wonder Man” series led by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (“Watchmen”), and a gestating “Shang-Chi” sequel.

“Spider-Man 4” is coming at a weird time and place for Sony as the studio has reportedly paused their spinoff cinematic universe with “Kraven The Hunter” being what could be the last effort to expand the live-action brand without Marvel’s direct help.

However, there have been some early rumblings online that Daredevil could show up, although, confirmed. Then again, given that Charlie Cox has already appeared as NYC lawyer Matt Murdock in “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” and that “Daredevil: Born Again” is gearing up for the second season of filming, there is a good chance the proximity of the characters could lead to a true crossover between to the two NYC-centric superheroes in “Spider-Man 4.”

With an expected summer/fall shoot in London for “Spider-Man 4,” we should start hearing casting news sometime between now and the summer giving fans a better idea of what the next chapter in Peter Parker’s story will explore.
