Another day and Sony’s marketing campaign continues to assault your senses despite “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” release date being nearly two months away. For fans that means a new action-packed clip from the film and our first taste of the film’s soundtrack.
First up is a minute-long clip that showcases Paul Giamatti’s Rhino in a car chase with New York’s finest and, of course, our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man in hot pursuit. It’s strange that we’re getting look at this scene this far from the film’s release given Marc Webb’s recent comments at SXSW that Rhino would only have “four minutes” of screentime. Perhaps Sony is daring someone to take all the footage released so far from the sequel and cut into a nice bootleg version (as someone did for the first film)?
On the auditory end of the spectrum, THR is muscling in on our territory by reporting that the soundtrack for superhero sequel will include new songs from Alicia Keys featuring rising-star Kendrick Lamar, Phosphorescent, The Neighborhood, Alvin Risk and LIZ. Keys’ song, the Pharrell WIlliams-produced “It’s On Again,” will close out the film. Though we already knew Hans Zimmer’s score for the film would have reuniting with his “Despicable Me” partner Williams and “Inception” (and The Smiths, duh) guitarist Johnny Marr, the film’s final score is credited to Zimmer along with the so-called Magnificent Six, who include Williams and Marr alongside Junkie XL, Andrew Kawczynski, Steve Mazzaro and Incubus’ Mike Einzinger.
“The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Original Motion Picture Soundtrack” hits store shelves next month on April 22nd and “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” opens in theaters the following month on May 2nd.
