‘A House Of Dynamite’ Trailer: Kathryn Bigelow’s Harrowing Political Thriller Hits Theaters On October 10, Netflix On October 24

Netflix has a ton of buzzy movies premiering this Fall, including Guillermo del Toro‘s “Frankenstein,” the acclaimed Sundance hit “Train Dreams,” and Rian Johnson‘s latest “Knives Out” caper. But Kathryn Bigelow‘s “A House Of Dynamite” may carry the most buzz of them all, in no small part because it’s the first film for the director since 2017’s “Detroit.”

And since this is a Kathryn Bigelow joint, expect a first-rate political thriller that’s explosive and harrowing all at once. Set at the White House, “A House Of Dynamite” sees US government officials scrambling to deal with an incoming nuclear missile launched by an unknown adversary. Will Idris Elba‘s POTUS and Rebecca Ferguson‘s military brass be able to respond properly before it’s too late?

Here’s an official synopsis for the thriller, courtesy of Netflix:

From Academy Award® winning director Kathryn Bigelow comes A HOUSE OF DYNAMITE. When a single, unattributed missile is launched at the United States, a race begins to determine who is responsible and how to respond.

Along with Elba and Ferguson, “A House Of Dynamite” also stars Gabriel Basso, Jared Harris, Tracy Letts, Anthony Ramos, Moses Ingram, and Jonah Hauer-King. Greta Lee and Jason Clarke also star, with Malachi Beasley, Brian Tee, Brittany O’Grady, Gbenga Akinnagbe, Willa Fitzgerald, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Kyle Allen, and Kaitlyn Dever rounding out the main cast.

Bigelow directs a script by Noah Oppenheim for “A House Of Dynamite.” Producers on the film include Bigelow, Greg Shapiro, and Oppenheim. Brian Bell and Sarah Bremner serve as executive producers, with co-producers including Jeremy Hindle, Sumaiya Kaveh, and Luca Borghese.

“A House Of Dynamite” had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival earlier this month, where it received high marks from critics. The Playlist’s review awarded the film an A-, and praised Bigelow’s directing, calling the film, “a well-oiled machine that can safely marshal all its resources.”

“A House Of Dynamite” hits select UK theaters on October 3, then select global theaters (including the US) on October 3, and then streams exclusively on Netflix on October 24. Watch a trailer for Bigelow’s latest below.
