'A Quiet Place': Lupita Nyong'o Set To Star In New 'Day One' Spinoff

We are merely days away from “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” and thus, the return of Lupita Nyong’o to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While people are excited to see what Nyong’o does in the new ‘Black Panther’ film, folks won’t have to wait very long at all to see the actress in a new franchise, as she is now set to star in the upcoming “A Quiet Place” spinoff.

According to Deadline, Lupita Nyong’o is set to star in the upcoming film, “A Quiet Place: Day One.” The film, which is directed by “Pig” helmer, Michael Sarnoski, is said to be a spinoff of the previous “A Quiet Place” films and set up a sort of cinematic universe. Nothing is really known about the film, though the title would lead you to believe it’s a prequel. Perhaps, we’ll learn how the monsters from the previous films ended up taking over the world? Who knows? 

As mentioned, Nyong’o is about to appear in the upcoming ‘Wakanda Forever.’ However, she’s no stranger to high-profile films. She also has voiced a major role as the alien Maz Kanata in the recent “Star Wars” sequel trilogy. In addition, she has voiced a role in “Jungle Book” and wowed audiences as the lead in Jordan Peele’s thriller, “Us.”

There is a lot of hype surrounding the “A Quiet Place” franchise right now. The first two films were major hits for Paramount and launched John Krasinski into the stratosphere as a filmmaker. Obviously, by attempting to set up a cinematic universe with ‘Day One,’ the studio is hoping that “A Quiet Place” can spawn a number of new films and continue the legacy for years to come. 

“A Quiet Place: Day One” is expected to arrive in theaters in March 2024.
