CANNES – The 2023 Cannes Film Festival has come to an end and that means the Palme d’Or winner has finally been revealed. Presented by jury president Ruben Östlund and special guest Jane Fonda, the honor went to Justine Triet’s “Anatomy of a Fall.” Recently acquired by NEON, it becomes the independent distributors fourth Palme winner over the past four years after “Titane,””Triangle of Sadness,” and Best Picture winner, “Parasite.”
Tried becomes just the second woman in the 76-year history of the festival to win the Palme after “The Piano’s” Jane Campion and “Titane’s” Julia Ducournau.
Actress Anaïs Demoustier, President of the Jury, handed out the Caméra d’or award to the best first film winner, “Ben Trong Vo Ken Vang (Inside The Yellow Coconut Shell)” by Vietnamiese filmmaker Thien An Pham.
Actress Stacy Martin and director Ildikó Enyedi, President of the Short Film and La Cinef Jury presented the award for the Palme d’or for short films to “27” by Flora Ana Buda.
Orlando Bloom handed out the Jury Prize to Aki Kaurismäki’s “Fallen Leaves.”
Song Kang-ho, last year’s winner of Best Performance by an Actor for “Broker” and Zar Amir Ebrahimi, last year’s winner of Best Performance by an Actress for “Holy Spider,” handed out awards in those categories to Merve Dizdar for Turkish drama “Kuru Otlar Ustune (About Dry Grasses)” and Koji Yakusho for Wim Wenders’ “Perfect Days,” respectively.
John C. Reilly, President of the Un Certain Regard Jury, presented the Best Screenplay Prize to Yuji Sakamoto for Hirokazu Kore-eda‘s “Monster.”
Oscar winner Pete Docter, Creative Director of Pixar Studios, handed out the Best Director Prize to Tran Anh Hung for “The Pot-au-Feu.”
Roger Corman and Quentin Tarantino presented the Grand Prix to Jonathan Glazer’s “Zone of Interest.”
Earlier, LaScam and L’OEil d’Or Jury presented the 2023 Award for the Best Documentary to both “Four Daughters” by Kaouther Ben Hania and “The Mother of All Lies” by Asmae El Moudir.

Best Director: “Kadib Abyad (The Mother of All Lies)” directed by Asmae El Moudir
Ensemble Prize: “Crowra (The Buriti Flower)” directed by João Salaviza & Renée Nader Messora
New Voice Prize: “Augure (Omen)” directed by Baloji
Freedom Prize: “Goodbye Julia” directed by Mohamed Kordofani
Additionally, on Friday night Hirokazu Kore-eda won the Queer Palm for “Monster.”
