Andrew Garfield Is "Definitely Open" To Doing More Spider-Man Projects After 'No Way Home'

**Spoilers for “Spider-Man: No Way Home” below…**

After watching “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” you can’t help but feel a little bad for Andrew Garfield. No, not because of what he does in the film. He’s great in the movie, and his version of Peter Parker might actually steal the show in the final act. However, you have to feel bad for Garfield as a human. This man had to sit there for countless interviews for months and deny, deny, deny. It got to the point where he was clearly exasperated by the whole thing. But hey, that’s the price you pay for Spider-Man fame, huh?

Well, now the cat’s out of the bag and Andrew Garfield can come clean about what it was like shooting “Spider-Man: No Way Home.” And in a new interview with Variety, the actor talked about the phone call that got him back in the suit, the reaction to the film, and then, of course, the future.

“It was immediately undeniable. It sounded incredibly fun, incredibly spiritual — trippy and thematically interesting,” said Garfield about the call from producer Amy Pascal, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, and director Jon Watts about returning to the role after all these years. “On a base level, as a Spider-Man fan, just the idea of seeing three Spider-Men in the same frame was enough.”

So, it doesn’t sound like there was a whole lot of debate about whether or not Garfield’s Peter Parker would return for ‘No Way Home’ after two appearances in the ‘Amazing Spider-Man’ film franchise. But maybe the most surprising aspect of the whole situation is how much Garfield’s ‘Amazing’ franchise saw its stock rise in the eyes of fans after his appearance in the new film. People now are going back to appreciate the work he did in those films and for the actor, he’s “grateful” for all the love.

“I am so grateful. I’m just really, really grateful that I got to tie up some loose ends for the Peter that I was playing,” said Garfield. “I love that character and I’m grateful that I got to work with these incredible actors, this incredible director, and Marvel in conjunction with Sony. It was joyful, and a feeling of closure for me. There was so many unanswered questions for my Peter, where we left it. I got to step back in and get some healing for him. And also really supporting [Tom Holland’s] Peter, and honoring his character completing that trilogy, not distracting or detracting from it.”

Well, maybe Garfield didn’t distract in the film, but since the release fans are clamoring to find out if he’d ever be interested in returning to the role in some sort of continuation of his ‘Amazing’ franchise. Rumors abound about him maybe showing up in a Sinister Six film or something of that ilk. And as a huge Spider-Man fan himself, it appears Garfield is game.

“I mean, yes, definitely open to something if it felt right. Peter and Spider-Man, those characters are all about service, to the greater good and the many,” he said. “He’s a working-class boy from Queens that knows struggle and loss and is deeply empathetic. I would try to borrow Peter Parker’s ethical framework in that, if there was an opportunity to step back in and tell more of that story, I would have to feel very sure and certain in myself.”

“Spider-Man: No Way Home” is in theaters now.
