What does it take to survive a serial killer? A woman fights against a vicious murderer and the forces of nature in the upcoming film “Apex.” Netflix’s action thriller follows the dangerous game between these compelling characters. Baltasar Kormákur directs the film and features a screenplay by Jeremy Robbins. Kormákur is best known for the crime thriller “2 Guns,” which starred Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg and the survival thriller “Everest,” featuring Jason Clarke, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Josh Brolin.

Kormákur assembles another memorable cast for “Apex.” Charlize Theron, Taron Egerton, and Eric Bana star in the upcoming film. The actors all have a strong relationship with Netflix. Theron stars in the “Old Guard” film franchise. Egerton portrayed a TSA agent in the 2024 Netflix film “Carry-On.” Bana’s current series, “Untamed,” is set for another season with the streamer.
One of the film’s most formidable aspects is its setting. The project was filmed in New South Wales, Australia. This awe-inspiring scenery adds another level of realism to the already tense story. Kormákur noted the location’s positive influence while speaking to Tudum. “The unrivaled landscape, studio facilities, and talented crews in New South Wales have been a boon to this production,” he said. The filmmaker also went on to thank the citizens of NSW, government officials, and the Australian Government’s Location Offset.
The film’s official synopsis:
A grieving woman seeks solace in the wilderness only to become ensnared in a deadly game of cat and mouse with a serial killer.
“Apex” executive producers include Ray Angelic, Will McCance, and Dawn Olmstead for Secret Menu. The film debuts on Netflix on April 24. Watch the exciting new trailer below.
