‘Atlanta’ To End After Season 4; Both New Seasons To Debut In 2022

At the end of Season 2 of “Atlanta,” it seemed as if the FX series was riding a massive wave of goodwill, with incredible reviews, excellent ratings, and tons of awards. But it’s been almost exactly four years since Season 2 debuted, and you have to wonder how much of that momentum is gone? We’ll find out soon enough, as it appears Season 3 of “Atlanta” is expected to debut soon, with the fourth and final season coming later this year.

We’ve known for a long time that Seasons 3 and 4 of “Atlanta” were filmed back-to-back, with the idea that they would premiere reasonably close together. It was also hinted that this would likely be the end of the series. However, at FX’s recent TCA panel, this was all confirmed.

FX has just announced its plans for the award-winning series “Atlanta.” The series, which stars Donald Glover, is set to debut the long-awaited Season 3 on March 24, more than four years after Season 2 debuted. Then, at an unspecified date in the fall, Season 4 will debut and will mark the end of “Atlanta.” And if you don’t have FX, you’re still in luck, as each new episode will debut the next day on Hulu.

“The fourth and final season is slated to debut in the same manner this fall,” FX boss John Landgraf said. “The new season is everything you’ve come to expect from ‘Atlanta,’ which is to say, expect the unexpected. Sit back and enjoy the trip.”

Joining Glover in the cast of “Atlanta” are Brian Tyree Henry, Zazie Beetz, and Lakeith Stanfield. You have to assume a large part of the reason for “Atlanta” coming to an end is just how busy those four are with their various film and TV projects lining up.

We’ll see how it all comes together with the second half of “Atlanta” beginning on March 24 with the Season 3 premiere. And while we’re here, FX’s “Dave” has been renewed for season three, which makes a lot of sense given its similarity to “Atlanta” in many ways.
