New 'Avengers: Endgame' Poster Causes Outrage When Fans Notice Every Actor But Danai Gurira Is Credited [Updated]

UPDATED: Marvel Studios released an updated poster, adding Gurira’s name, which is confirmed in the tweet at the bottom of the original article.

By now, you’ve probably watched the newest trailer for “Avengers: Endgame.” Some of you might have watched it numerous times, dissecting every morsel, as you look for clues to April’s film (embarrassingly raises hand). But the arrival of the new trailer was accompanied by a new poster. And while there’s plenty to talk about regarding the trailer, one of the biggest discussions on social media is about the poster. Particularly, what’s not on the poster.

As you might expect at this point, the latest poster for “Avengers: Endgame” is fresh out of Photoshop, with a bazillion characters in various poses and various angles, looking off into the distance at…something? Dollar signs? Freedom from the MCU? That being said, this Photoshop Frankenstein’s Monster of a poster is actually pretty darn heroic-looking, and gives some prominent placement to some of the lesser-experienced members of the Avengers.

One of those people that are featured in the new poster is Danai Gurira’s Okoye. Appearing in both “Black Panther” and “Avengers: Infinity War,” Okoye has struck a chord with Marvel fans and quickly become a favorite in the MCU. So, seeing her on the poster of an ‘Avengers’ film is pretty awesome. However, there’s one problem. Gurira isn’t a credited actor on the poster.

Well, you might be saying, “They can’t credit everyone on the poster, right? There are a bazillion characters.” That’s true, but see, that’s the issue – they did credit everyone. At least, everyone on the poster. There are 13 characters on the poster and only 12 names. Hell, as many have pointed out, Bradley Cooper’s face isn’t in the poster (he provides the voice for Rocket) and he gets credit.

Yes, there are all sorts of behind-the-scenes maneuvering to decide which names get mentioned, what order they’re presented, and even who gets the coveted “With” credit at the end. But did you guys really have to leave out Gurira, who also happens to be the only female person of color on the poster? Oof.
