Ben Affleck Still Supports The 'Justice League' Snyder Cut & Calls The Director Switch "A Very Weird Thing"

It’s been almost two-and-a-half years since “Justice League” hit theaters. And the discussion of The Snyder Cut of that film lives on to this very day. In fact, one could argue that the lost cut of the film, from the project’s original director Zack Snyder (before Joss Whedon came aboard and drastically re-worked the film), is discussed more now than ever before, with the majority of the cast coming forward in support. And in a new interview, Ben Affleck, once again, reaffirms his desire for the release of The Snyder Cut of “Justice League” and gives a diplomatic reason for why he thinks the film probably felt a bit disjointed.

Speaking to Cinemablend, the actor was asked about “Justice League” and the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut social media campaign. And though he’s voiced his support in the past for the release of Zack Snyder’s unseen version of the film, Affleck discussed why the theatrical release of “Justice League” might not have been the greatest film ever.

“That movie, you know, having two directors is a very weird thing,” said Affleck. “‘Justice League,’ the director had a family tragedy and had to leave. And you kind of have a cow’s body and a horse’s head with two directors a lot of times. For better or for worse, I do think Zack’s cut should be available, for sure.”

Even with all the support from the cast, and Snyder’s social media posts that tease his version of the film, it’s still unlikely that Warner Bros. is ever going to give “Justice League: The Snyder Cut” an actual formal release. There was social media discussion about how the upcoming HBO Max (WB’s streaming platform) would be the perfect destination for the release, as it would mitigate the cost of distribution and be there for fans of “Justice League” that are desperate to see what Snyder had in mind. But again, no announcement about that has been made and it still seems like that isn’t on WB’s mind, as of now.

Of course, things can change and, like most things, if you keep the discussion alive, perhaps The Snyder Cut could see the light of day eventually.
