‘Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F’ Trailer: Eddie Murphy Returns As His Iconic Cop In July On Netflix

Is Beverly Hills ready for the return of Axel Foley? The iconic character is back in familiar territory for “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F.” Netflix’s new film sees Eddie Murphy reprise the role, one that helped define blockbuster action comedies. Times have changed, though — Foley’s daughter is at the center of this story. She’s facing danger and a father determined to help her no matter what it takes. The film hails from director Mark Molloy, with Will Beall And Tom Gormican & Kevin Etten credited as writers. Etten and Gormican notably wrote the critically acclaimed comedy “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent” — a project that saw Etten direct.

Murphy isn’t the only original cast member back for the sequel. Judge Reinhold and John Ashton co-star as Rosewood and Taggart. Fans of the film franchise will recognize the memorable characters from their previous appearances. It’s not all about nostalgia, as the new project welcomes Taylour Paige to the cast. She portrays Foley’s daughter, holding her own against a team of veteran talents. Joseph Gordon-Levitt also appears as a new partner working with two generations of Foleys. Paul Reiser, Bronson Pinchot and Kevin Bacon also appear.

The film’s official synopsis:

“Detective Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy) is back on the beat in Beverly Hills. After his daughter’s life is threatened, she (Taylour Paige) and Foley team up with a new partner (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and old pals Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) and John Taggart (John Ashton) to turn up the heat and uncover a conspiracy.”
