Bill Murray, Adrien Brody & More Usual Suspects Rumored For Wes Anderson's French Musical

Fresh off the heels of “Isle of Dogs,” filmmaker Wes Anderson is ready to go back to the world of live-action for his next film, a musical set in post-World War II France. And as you might expect, the names being thrown around for the cast of his next film are pretty incredible, albeit a little obvious.

According to the French outlet Agri79, we now know some of the names being mentioned as joining the musical. First and foremost, it should be no surprise that Bill Murray sits atop the list of rumored cast members. Murray and Anderson have worked together eight times, which includes every Anderson-directed film minus “Bottle Rocket.” So, saying Bill Murray is going to star in a Wes Anderson film is the equivalent of saying the sun will rise in the morning.

However, the other name that is being highly speculated is Oscar-winner Adrien Brody. Granted, Brody and the filmmaker have only collaborated on the films “The Darjeeling Limited,” “Fantastic Mr. Fox,” and “The Grand Budapest Hotel,” it’s still nice to know that the actor is being considered for yet another project with the director.

Other names being bandied about are Tilda Swinton, Léa Seydoux, and Owen Wilson. The latter actor is incorrectly named as “Gwen Wilson,” but unless Owen has a sister that we haven’t heard about yet, we’re going out on a limb and saying that the male Wilson that has appeared in almost every Wes Anderson project is the one the report is alluding to.

Swinton is a more recent regular for the director, having only appeared in the last three films, dating back to 2012’s “Moonrise Kingdom.” Seydoux is also a recent Anderson collaborator, only appearing in “The Grand Budapest Hotel.” However, the French star provided the voice for Scarlett Johansson’s character in the French dub of “Isle of Dogs,” and was featured in a Prada commercial directed by the filmmaker.

We still don’t have a title, or a release date, for the upcoming Wes Anderson musical. As mentioned before, production is set to begin later this year and run into early 2019, so there’s still a chance for a 2020 release.
