There was a tangible feeling of relief this past week as the first round of reactions poured in for “Birds of Prey.” While early footage for the film seemed promising – and nobody would say no to more time with Margot Robbie‘s Harley Quinn – there’s no denying that the Warner Bros superhero films have been in a bit of a transitional period. Comic book fans were pleased to hear that the film holds together, with the word “fun” appearing in almost every review.

For those of us not lucky enough to see the movie early, there is a consolation prize: these three new “Birds of Prey” clips, courtesy of the team at Bloody Disgusting. (Pay close attention to the henchman in the final clip. Is that a tricycle he’s riding? I’m rooting for that guy.)
In “Hair Tie,” we get our first look at the group in action and learn to appreciate the value of a well-timed hair tie during hand-to-hand combat. Meanwhile, “You Lost Something, Right?” affords us an opportunity to appreciate Ewan McGregor‘s Black Mask as he makes plans to murder Harley Quinn. Finally, “He’s After All of Us” pinpoints the exact moment that a ragtag group of criminals and vigilantes become a well-oiled, bad guy-beating machine.

Like all good teaser clips, there’s nothing in these “Birds of Prey” videos that haven’t been hinted at in previous trailers, but it does allow us to spend some extended time with our group of antiheroines. “Birds of Prey” does feature a pretty robust cast of characters, so any chance we get to start getting a feel for their personalities and performances is a good one.
