What do the movies “Fargo,” “Parenthood,” and “Teen Wolf” have in common? They’ve all been turned into successful TV shows. Soon joining their ranks, albeit not stateside, is Bong Joon-Ho’s “Memories Of Murder.”
Per Fandor (via Twitch), South Korean director Bong Joon-ho’s sophomore feature will be adapted for Korean television as “Signal,” under the tutelage of Korean TV vet Kim Eun-Hee. With police procedurals as popular as ever on the small screen both here and abroad, it’s only natural that one of the best big-screen attempts of the last decade would get the long-form serialized treatment.
In case you didn’t know, Bong Joon-ho’s film follows the true story of South Korea’s first known serial murders. For those that only know of the director through “The Host” and “Snowpiercer,” "Memories Of Murder" is a great look at a long investigation that stands toe-to-toe with David Fincher’s “Zodiac” and Britain’s “Red Riding” trilogy, and it recently ranked on our 10 Best Films Of 2005 list. Details on the cast or the production start date aren’t known yet. In the meantime though, you can check out the trailer for “Memories Of Murder” below.
