Musical Duo The Chainsmokers Say Upcoming Film Is "Woody Allen Meets '10 Things I Hate About You'"

The Chainsmokers are the hit musical duo with songs like “Closer” and “Paris.” And if you’re a person of a certain age, aka under 25-years-old, you probably are familiar with the group, formed by Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall. Now, what you might not be aware of is that Taggart and Pall are teaming up with a screenwriter to bring the latter song, “Paris,” to the big screen as a film based on the hit song of two people meeting abroad.

The duo recently appeared at an event and was interviewed by Vanity Fair. They were asked about the cinematic inspirations for their upcoming film, as well as what their roles might be in the production. The ‘Smokers — who once put on their official website that their penises (when put tip-to-tip) measure “17.34 combined inches” — are writing the upcoming untitled romantic dramedy with “Pitch Perfect” screenwriter Mickey Rapkin.

“It’s like Woody Allen meets ‘10 Things I Hate About You,’” said Pall. “And we want to show kind of the underbelly of Paris and not the flashy things that you normally see.”

“We’re hoping to write some nostalgic, great banter, love story,” Taggart added.

The latter ‘Smoker said that the duo won’t appear in the film, but (obviously) will contribute to the music (assuming it’s not just “Paris” remixed by various folks on a loop).

“Right now, we are just trying to make it a good movie,” said Taggart. “We are still working out the characters. We changed where they are from and what they do for an occupation. Maybe there’s a right part for us in the future, but we won’t be acting right now to focus on developing the story and the music.”

It’s important to capture the right romantic tone of the film, when you’re constructing a love story set in the world’s most romantic city, Paris. And considering you have poets like The Chainsmokers — who once said in a Billboard interview that “even before success, pussy was number one” — we fully expect this film to be aimed right at the young folks that love their music.

When discussing the idea of casting this epic Parisian love story, the duo suggested the current king of the teen heartthrobs, the “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” star Noah Centineo. “I would love to get Noah Centineo,” said Pall. “He’s a stud! He would be perfect to join our movie. Noah, come on, baby!”
