Channing Tatum & Joseph Gordon-Levitt Star In Trailer For Amazon's 'Comrade Detective'

Have you been jonesing for a show featuring the disembodied voices of Channing Tatum and Joseph Gordon-Levitt? If so, you’re in luck with “Comrade Detective,” a 1980s-set Romanian cop comedy spoof series about a pair of police offers working to save their Communist comrades from the evils of Capitalism.

A co-production between Amazon Studios and A24, the series from screenwriters Brian Gatewood and Alessandro Tanaka (“The Sitter”) is presented in Romanian and dubbed in English, true to the way a Romanian show would have been during the time. But Tatum and Gordon-Levitt aren’t alone in the voice over dubbing department. “Comrade Detective” boasts a long list of supporting actors willing to lend their pipes, including: Mahershala Ali, Nick Offerman, Jenny Slate, Fred Armisen, Chloë Sevigny, Jake Johnson, Jason Mantzoukas, Kim Basinger, Tracey Letts, Bobby Cannavale, Richard Jenkins, Debra Winger, Mark Duplass, Katie Aselton Duplass, Jerrod Carmichael, Bo Burnam, and John Early.

This oddball comedy seems pretty niche, but if you like the sound of it, you can catch “Comrade Detective” when it premieres on Amazon on August 4th.
