'Cherry': Tom Holland Is Robbing A Bank In The First Look At The Russo Brothers' Post-'Avengers' Gig

If anyone in Hollywood has earned a break, it’s the Russo Brothers. Not only did the two directors release two of the biggest films of all time in consecutive years (“Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame”), but they also spent the entirety of 2017 filming. That means for more than two full years (not including preproduction), these guys have been busting their butt for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But instead of resting on their good fortunes, the Russos have already started work on their latest film, “Cherry.”

And in honor of the ongoing production, the star of “Cherry,” Tom Holland, took to Instagram to share a first look at the upcoming drama. And no, there’s no superhero costume to be found. In fact, “Cherry” is a hard left turn for the Russos and Holland, as they ditch the superhero genre to tell the story of an Army medic that is suffering from extreme PTSD and relies on opioids to help ease the pain. And after developing an addiction, this former soldier resorts to robbing banks to pay for his lifestyle. Nope, no funny quips or talking raccoons.

In the first image from the film, you see a rough-looking Holland, with his very controversial buzzed hair, holding a gun directly at the camera, presumably in the middle of a robbery at Shitty Bank. This appears to be the role that will showcase Tom Holland in ways that his ‘Spider-Man’ fans haven’t seen him in before.

There’s no word on when we might see “Cherry” arrive in theaters. However, given that production is clearly underway, and the Russos are completely finished with their MCU obligations, there’s no stopping “Cherry” from getting a good fall 2020 release. Obviously, there will be plenty of film fans eagerly awaiting what comes next for the directors.
