'Saigon Bodyguards': Chris Pratt To Star In The Action-Comedy Produced By The Russo Brothers

Since they formed their own production company, AGBO, the Russo Brothers have not been shy about reteaming with their ‘Avengers’ cast. To date, AGBO has teamed with Chadwick Boseman, Chris Hemsworth, and Tom Holland on films already. They’re also planning on working with Chris Evans on a new action film for Netflix. And now, it appears that Joe and Anthony Russo are reteaming with Chris Pratt on a new action-comedy, “Saigon Bodyguards.”

According to Deadline, Chris Pratt is set to star opposite Wu Jing in a remake of the Vietnamese film, “Saigon Bodyguards.” And yes, AGBO is producing the film, giving the Russos another chance to work with Pratt, who starred in “Avengers: Infinity War” and “Avengers: Endgame.” Alex Gregory and Peter Huyck are set to write the script.

“Saigon Bodyguards” tells the story of two men, one a straight-laced guy and the other “a doof” (as Deadline describes him), who are hoping to locate a missing woman that was kidnapped under their noses. Even though we don’t know exactly who is playing what role, we’re going out on a limb and saying that Pratt will be the doof.

Pratt is probably best known for his roles in the Marvel Studios films, as well as his starring role in the “Jurassic World” franchise. He’s also set to star in a number of upcoming films, including “The Tomorrow War.” Wu Jing is probably not a big name for folks in the US, but he’s a massive star in his home country of China, where he starred in “Wolf Warrior,” the highest-grossing non-English film of all time. This is clearly a big opportunity for Wu Jing to breakout in a Hollywood film, and also for Pratt to expand his fanbase in Asia.

It’s unclear when production on this might begin, but “Saigon Bodyguards” definitely will be a film with a lot of eyes on it whenever it hits theaters or streaming.
