'Criminal' Season 2 Trailer: Kit Harington Might Be A Murderer In Netflix's Crime Drama

The landscape of the Peak TV era is cluttered, to say the least. For every major, big-budget series with an impressive cast (such as the upcoming series, “The Stand”), there are a dozen or more shows that would have likely been awards contenders a decade ago but are just lost in the shuffle. And you can’t help but think that’s going to be the case, once again, for the Netflix series “Criminal.”

Last season’s “Criminal” had an impressive cast and a pretty intriguing concept, where the series told multiple stories about suspects being questioned by investigators. The premise is simple, but each episode served as an acting showcase for the stars, as each were given a full range of emotions to present, as well as secrets to keep. And as seen in the new trailer for Season 2, “Criminal” is at it again, with a great cast (Kit Harington, Kunal Nayyar, Sharon Horgan, and Sophie Okonedo) and some interesting mysteries. But will the British series find its way on your queue or will you just continue to watch the latest, greatest big-budget project that seems to debut on Netflix each and every week?

The relatively short synopsis for Season 2 says, “Seeking answers inside the interview room, investigators question suspects over four confounding cases, including alleged rape, abduction, and murder.” And really, that’s all that’s needed. The trailer clearly paints the picture of a show that is wholly focused on the interrogation of potential suspects and the talented actors used to portray those characters.

And if nothing else, viewing this trailer from the COVID-era perspective, “Criminal” might just be the perfect structure for a crime series in 2020. With such a relatively small cast, and shots that include one, or maybe two characters at a time, Netflix could pump out season after season of “Criminal” without worrying about making COVID-inspired changes to production. It’s awfully telling how the first thing I noticed when watching a trailer right now is whether or not this could be made right now, huh?

“Criminal” is set to return on September 16. And if this season is anything like the last, it’s a show you should definitely check out. You can watch the intrigue-filled trailer below. Who do you think is telling the truth, and who do you think is a sociopathic liar?
