Check out the new Gucci by Gucci perfume ad shot by surrealist director meditation-advocate David Lynch. Apparenrtly, Brazilian supermodel Raquel Zimmerman, along Natasha Poly and Freja Beha Erichsen were hand picked by Lynch and ad campaign (he knows his lovely ladies, see “Muholland Drive”). The ad will run in Europe starting in late October and it features Blondie’s “Heart of Glass.” Unfortunately there’s no red room or midgets, oh well.
Those thinking that David Lynch making a Gucci ad is shocking, think again. Lynch has worked as an ad gun for hire many times before. He did Calvin Klien’s famous “Obsession” ads in 1988 and has done ads for Adidas, and Yves Saint Laurent and Giorgio Armani frangrances among many others. Lynch has no problem with directing commercials obviously, but he rather loathes product placement in films.
