Denis Villeneuve's Top 8 Films Of 2017

Given the amount of work that was required to get “Blade Runner 2049” over the finish line, not to mention the extensive press rounds, it’s hard to believe Denis Villeneuve had time to watch anything. However, he got enough under his belt to put together a top 8 list for Indiewire.

Xavier Dolan’s Top 8 Films Of 2017

As anyone who has followed his career so far knows, Villeneuve keeps an equal footing in both the mainstream and arthouse. It’s why you’ll see both “Dunkirk” and “The Square” on the same list. The director clearly picks a side in the “mother!” debate, and surprisingly shows some love for Neill Blomkamp‘s online moviemaking experiments. As for “Those Who Make Revolution Halfway Only Dig Their Own Graves” (great title), it’s an epic, three hour Quebecois film by Mathieu Denis and Simon Lavoie that takes place in the aftermath of the recent student protests.
