New Disney+ Ad Says 'WandaVision' Still Coming This Year But Doesn't Mention 'Falcon & Winter Soldier'

It’s fall and Disney+ is ready to celebrate its first anniversary. And with that milestone approaching, the studio decided it would love to announce the full slate of fall TV series coming to the streaming service. And in doing so, the Mouse House has conspicuously left off one major series, “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” while also promoting another Marvel series. So, what does it all mean?

Well, according to Disney, the streaming platform has a full slate of original films and TV series coming to the service between now and the end of the year. Some of the biggest projects are confirmed, with “The Mandalorian” coming October 30, “The Right Stuff” on October 9,” and “Marvel 616” on November 20. And with regards to that last series, you may be wondering where the rest of the Marvel Studios slate is? Well, interestingly, the series that was supposed to kick things off, ‘Falcon and Winter Soldier,’ is nowhere to be found in the promo video or press release. But you know what is? “WandaVision.”

We’ve seen published reports that “WandaVision,” which was supposed to be released in December, even before the whole pandemic thing happened, was able to film a majority of its season before getting shut down. Unfortunately, ‘Falcon’ also found itself shut down and was clearly not going to be ready for its August release. But there might be more than just the fact that “WandaVision” is going to be done before ‘Falcon’ to keep in mind. There might be something more to this move of delaying ‘Falcon,’ which has already restarted filming.

You see, speculation is running rampant that ‘Falcon’ might actually tie in pretty closely to the fallout from “Black Widow,” which was supposed to debut in May and was delayed to November (and is seemingly going to get pushed to 2021). And because the MCU is full of intricacy and thematic ties, it stands to reason that the new delay of “Black Widow” might be the reason why ‘Falcon’ has gone from 2020 to… sometime in the future. “WandaVision,” just based on what we know and what folks have said about it, does have strong ties to future films and TV series, but nothing that forces it after “Black Widow.”

Long story short, even though Marvel Studios has been hyping “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” for well over a year as the first major series from the studio on Disney+, it seems as if “WandaVision” is going to take that position and kickstart the MCU on streaming.
