Elizabeth Olsen Talks Disney+ Series 'WandaVision' & Hints At 1950s Setting And A Fall Start Date

**Just to set your minds at ease, there will be NO SPOILERS (OR HINTS) FOR ‘AVENGERS: ENDGAME’ in the article below**

One of the most interesting, if not a bit confusing, series announced by Disney as part of its upcoming streaming service is “WandaVision” from Marvel Studios. Not only is the title, alone, intriguing, but also the fact that the studio feels that the duo of Wanda and the Vision are worthy of their own series. Well, to add more fuel to the speculation fire, Elizabeth Olsen, who plays the titular Wanda, aka Scarlet Witch, sheds some more light on the series, leaving us with even more questions.

While attending the recent premiere of “Avengers: Endgame,” Olsen was asked about the upcoming series, particularly about the odd title “WandaVision.”

“Well, there are quite a few OTHER comic books they’re pulling from,” said Olsen (via Variety). “And it’s going to be Wanda and the Vision. I think at the Disney+ launch, they showed a photo of us in the ‘50s, and I think that’s a good teaser. It’s going to be really fun!”

Now, you can take the above comments a number of ways. First, and probably the most accurate, is the idea that the ‘50s-style image that she’s describing is being used as more of a promotional image to give the “feel” of the series, perhaps harkening back to the classic family ideas of that era.

However, this is Marvel and we’re dealing with a witch and an android, so there’s room for some more…unique theories.

If you’re a fan of the characters, as presented in the comic books, you know that there’s way more to both of them that has yet to be discussed in the films. Perhaps the biggest thing that could be explored in the series is the fact that Wanda is a bit…off. She’s routinely portrayed in the books as someone that is hardly in control of her powers and is prone to going off the deep end, with catastrophic results.

Maybe, the series could explore her psyche after the death of Vision by showing how she uses her incredible powers to create an alternate universe (maybe in her own head) where she and Vision get the ‘50s-style happily ever after, with the white picket fence and the kids.

Or, pulling from the comics again, Marvel Studios could take inspiration from the recent Vision storyline that saw the android create his own Norman Rockwell-esque family. Now, obviously, that would require Vision and Scarlet Witch to perhaps retire from superhero-ing and use both of their powers to somehow create kids, which wouldn’t be unprecedented at all in the comic book lore.

Either way, the series is going to be pretty wild. And while we don’t know the plot, Olsen is keen to tell us how long the series will be.

“I think it’s going to be a total of six hours,” she revealed.

Are we looking at six hour-long episodes or 12 half-hour episodes? Guess it all depends on the tone and if they want to go with that ‘50s-style sitcom vibe or a more typical drama. We will find out, as the actress also revealed that the filming will begin in the fall.
