Ewan McGregor Says 2016 Shoot For 'Trainspotting 2' "Might Happen," Calls Out "Parasitical" 'Star Wars' Fans

TrainspottingLast year when we chatted with Danny Boyle circa "Trance," he shared the exciting news that the long talked about sequel to "Trainspotting" might shoot in 2016. "It’s very loosely based on ‘Porno.’ There’s a couple of things that are based on the book, but obviously we’d have to have [author] Irvine [Welsh] on board," the director told us. And it would appear the news has reached the ears of star Ewan McGregor, aka Renton, who indicates that 2016 is indeed a possibility and that he’s game for a sequel.

"It looks like it might happen. The idea is that we shoot it in 2016, which would be 20 years after the original came out. And I’d be up for it. I wouldn’t have been 10 years ago, but I am now," the actor told Details. Once a frequent collaborator with Boyle, the pair had a falling out when the director replaced McGregor with Leonardo DiCaprio on "The Beach," but it seems time has healed all wounds.

"It was an unfortunate situation, and it wasn’t handled well," the actor said. "I was very upset. But time has gone by, and we put to bed the bad feelings and all of that shit."

However, the same can’t be said for a certain breed of "Star Wars" fans that stop McGregor in the street, and he’s not talking about kids or those who are truly invested in the George Lucas created universe. "I’ve never been to one of the conventions. The people I meet are the fuckers who want me to sign ‘Star Wars’ photos so they can sell them on the Internet or the people at premieres who are crushing children against barriers to get me to sign their fucking picture of Obi-Wan Kenobi," McGregor says. "They’re not fans —they’re parasitical lowlifes and fucking wankers."

So be careful if you ask the actor to sign some "Star Wars" bauble you plan to shill on eBay. Otherwise, keep your fingers crossed that Boyle and McGregor will get together for "Trainspotting 2," but we’d imagine the schedule will be determined on how quickly the director gets his next effort, the biopic "Jobs" with Christian Bale, off the ground and in front of cameras.
