First Look: Jessica Chastain & Oscar Isaac In HBO's 'Scenes From A Marriage'

Typically, people would be a bit upset if they found out that Hollywood had decided to remake Ingmar Bergman’s 1972 drama series/film, “Scenes from a Marriage.” But when you find out that HBO is the network behind the new series and it’s set to star Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain, it’s hard to be cynical about this one whatsoever. Frankly, we’re just dying to see it.

And thankfully, even though production only wrapped up recently, it appears that HBO is ready to begin the promotional campaign for “Scenes from a Marriage,” as the series takes its place in the new 2021 preview video released by the network. And no, it’s not just one fleeting moment that is teased. Though short, HBO does include some dialogue and multiple glimpses at scenes from its upcoming highly-anticipated limited series.

As the title suggests, “Scenes from a Marriage” follows the tumultuous relationship between a married couple, a family lawyer that specializes in divorce and her husband, over the course of a decade. The original came from writer-director Ingmar Bergman and was originally released as a limited series but was eventually repackaged as a feature film, which won all sorts of critical acclaim. The new series comes from writer-director Hagai Levi, who is the co-creator of the Showtime series, “The Affair.”

Obviously, with no CGI monsters or superheroes, the tease that is provided by HBO focuses on the two leads, Chastain and Isaac. And who can blame the network for doing that? Not only is the series expected to mainly feature those actors, but Chastain and Isaac are easily two of the best performers working today, with numerous incredible performances and awards under their belts.

It’s unclear when we might see “Scenes from a Marriage” debut on HBO. However, if the network is already teasing the series, it could be coming sooner than we imagine.
