'Future World' Trailer: Words Can't Describe The Craziness Seen In This 'Mad Max'-Inspired Film From James Franco

After the ‘Mad Max’ franchise gained prominence in the early ‘80s, there was a horde of rip-off films that were chasing the success of George Miller’s film. There are so many of these films, from Europe and the United States, that the “Mad Max Rip-Off Film” is practically its own genre. Now, in 2018, after the massive success of 2015’s “Mad Max: Fury Road,” we are about to enter a new age of the “Mad Max Rip-Off Film.” At least you might think so after you watch the trailer for “Future World.”

For those that might recognize the title and get excited, we’re sorry to say that “Future World” isn’t a “Westworld” spin-off film, unlike the 1976 film “Futureworld.” Instead, this is an absolutely crazy looking post-apocalyptic film starring James Franco, Milla Jovovich, Suki Waterhouse, Lucy Liu, and Snoop Dogg. Yes, you read that right, Snoop Dogg. In the trailer, we get the basic plot, which follows “synthetic” Ash (Waterhouse) as she tries to save the world that is ruled by Jovovich and Franco. At least that’s what we gathered. Honestly, the trailer sells this film as a clear homage to “Mad Max: Fury Road,” with one woman out to save the post-apocalyptic wasteland from an over-the-top bad guy.

Franco, who is also credited as co-director, looks like he is having a blast playing the bad guy in the film. His big grin and wild faces show that the actor is enjoying every second. Jovovich, who is no stranger to this type of film, also looks at home in the trailer. As we mentioned before, Snoop Dogg is the real standout in the trailer. Apparently, the only direction he received was, “Just be yourself and we’ll put you in dirty, post-apocalyptic clothing.” One thing is for sure, “Future World” isn’t going for subtlety.

Yes, it does seem like we’re making fun of this film, but honestly, we’ll be first in line to watch this. It looks like a completely crazy, fun film. We’re sold.
