Thanks to starring in “Reacher,” Alan Ritchson is now a household name, at least in the households of those who like straightforward action fare. But despite his appeal in the Jack Reacher role, Ritchson hasn’t graduated to A-List status yet, with recent movie vehicles like “Motor City” and “Playdate” failing to make waves with audiences. Maybe “Runner,” an actioner comedy the actor also produces, will change that narrative.
Starring Ritchson and Owen Wilson, the action comedy sees the pair racing against the clock to deliver a liver to a sick girl. The only problem? The cartel is hot on their trail, and they’ve hired mercenaries who will stop at nothing to catch them before they deliver their cargo.
Along with Wilson and Ritchson, “Runner” also stars Rodrigo Santoro, Leila George, Kate Box, Peta Sergeant, Geraldine Hakewill, Cecilia Toussaint, and Scarlett Crabtree.
Waugh directs a script by Miles Hubley & Tommy White on “Runner.” Producers on the film include Ritchson, Todd Garner, Mark Fasano, Jeffrey Greenstein.
