Get Ready For Trump Relief: 'RuPaul's Drag Race: All Stars 3' Is On The Way

Has the daily twitter rants from the sitting president gotten you down?  Has the general state of a world on fire made it hard to sleep at night? Well, the good news is that one of the most entertaining Emmy-nominated shows is about to return and it’s not a moment too soon.

VH1 announced this morning that “RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars” will return with a special episode on Friday, Oct. 20th at 8 PM ET/PT.  The hour-long episode will reveal which Queens will return to compete for a chance to get into the “Drag Race Hall of Fame” and the title of “America’s Next Drag Superstar.”  Alaska 5000 won “All Stars 2” a year ago and Chad Michaels won the inaugural “All Stars” in 2012.

“Millions of fans have their favorite queens that they THINK should be on ‘All Stars 3’,” executive producer and host RuPaul says. “But the final decision is mine to make. Prepare to be gagged.”

The special will also feature an “interview” with the legendary Chaka Kahn (Yeah, we don’t get it either, but maybe she’ll perform too). It’s not 100% clear when regular episodes of “AS3” will air, but VH1 has previously noted the series will be back in January, 2018.  Rumored queens expected to compete include Trixie Mattel (soon to be the star of “The Trixie and Katya Show” on Viceland next month), Thorgy Thor, the iconic meme queen Shangela and Kennedy Davenport among others.

“RuPaul’s Drag Race” earned seven Emmy nominations this past year winning three including RuPaul’s second win as Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program.  The number of famous faces who have revealed they are fans of the show has dramatically increased over the past two years with Jon Oliver noting he binged on “Drag Race” after Trump was elected last November.
