Got a Tip?

‘Gotti’ Biopic Lives Again With ‘Captain America’ Director Joe Johnston At The Helm

Kicking around since 2011, biopic “Gotti” (aka “Gotti: In The Shadow Of My Father” aka “Gotti: Three Generations”) was originally set to be directed by Barry Levinson with a cast that included John Travolta as Gotti Sr. alongside Al Pacino, Ben Foster and Joe Pesci, among others. Of course that never came to pass — mostly due to legal and money problems — but now things look to finally be set for some real movement on the film with a new director announced.

Joe Johnston, last seen directing “Captain America: The First Avenger” for Marvel, has been announced as the director with shooting now set to begin this fall in New York. Out of the cast originally assembled two year ago, the only one still attached is Travolta as the infamous head of the Gotti family. Hopefully they can reassemble the cast as closely as they can. We’re sure Lindsay Lohan’s schedule is still open.

Speaking of Travolta, Screen Daily is reporting that the “Pulp Fiction” actor has signed on to star in “The Forger,” which follows Travolta as the titular character who “must steal Renoir’s ‘Lady At The Piano’ from the Museum Of Fine Art and replace it with an exact replica” to get out of prison early and reunite with his gravely ill son. Two upcoming Travolta movies without him wearing leather or a goatee? Could this be the start of another comeback? Quick, someone start a Kickstarter campaign for “Wild Hogs 2.”
