'Grand Isle' Trailer: Nic Cage Hires A Man To Murder His Wife During A Hurricane In This New Thriller

There really are two types of Nicolas Cage films nowadays. You have the run-of-the-mill, generic action-thrillers that feel as if Cage is just appearing in the film to keep himself busy and pay some bills. Then there are the films where the actor’s, uh, unique gifts are used to full effect and even if the film isn’t the most well-made or well-acted, it’s endlessly entertaining and never boring. Judging by the first trailer for “Grand Isle,” we could be looking at another film that falls in the latter category.

As seen in the trailer, “Grand Isle” tells the story of a young guy that is escaping a hurricane and finds himself taking shelter with a married couple with some dark secrets. And when the husband (Cage) proposes that the young man murder his wife, things start to go off the deep end. Though the beginning of the trailer is fairly unremarkable, other than Cage’s accent and hairstyle, it’s clear that the film does go into some pretty wild directions, as the suspense and action build.

The film stars Cage alongside Kelsey Grammar, Luke Benward, and KaDee Strickland. “Grand Isle” is directed by Stephen S. Campanelli, who previously worked on the films “Momentum” and “Indian Horse.”

“Grand Isle” will arrive in select theaters and VOD on December 6. Let’s just hope that the film fulfills its promise of giving film fans another wild Cage performance.
