'Halo' Teaser: Pablo Schreiber Is Master Chief In Upcoming Paramount+ Series

If you venture into the recesses of The Playlist’s early years, you will find mentions of a “Halo” adaptation dating back as far as 2009. At the time, the thought was Steven Spielberg would produce a “Halo” film, based on the massive video game franchise. From there, it was reported Peter Jackson would direct the film. Eventually, over the last 12 years, names and creators have come and gone, and the project eventually shifted to TV, where it appears it’s actually happening. We even have a teaser to prove it!

As seen in the teaser for the long-awaited “Halo” TV series, the show is set to debut on Paramount+ in 2022. When exactly? Well, we have no idea. But the show exists. There is actual footage (not much, however). And Paramount+ is already beginning the marketing machine. So, when you consider “The Last of Us” is hitting HBO and “Uncharted” is hitting cinemas, both in 2022, it looks like next year is going to be the biggest year for video game adaptations yet.

For those that haven’t played the “Halo” video games, the plot follows a guy named Master Chief, who is the baddest badass to ever badass, as he uses his guns and laser sword-thingy to fight aliens of some description. Obviously, I’m not super well-versed in the “Halo” mythology. Honestly, people have tried to get caught up with all the “Halo” lore and it’s a full-time job by itself.

“Halo” stars Pablo Shreiber as the aforementioned Master Chief. He’s joined by Natascha McElhone, Charlie Murphy, Jen Taylor, Shabana Azmi, Bokeem Woodbine, Kate Kennedy, Natasha Culzac, Yerin Ha, and Bentley Kalu in the cast. Episodes of the big-budget series are reportedly directed by Otto Bathurst, Jonathan Liebesman, M. J. Bassett, Roel Reiné, and Jet Wilkinson
