‘Hunters’ Season 2 Trailer: Al Pacino Returns for Final Season of Prime Video’s Nazi-Hunter Revenge Thriller

When the first season of “Hunters” concluded in 2020, its reception was divisive. The revenge thriller about a fictionalized band of Nazi hunters in 1970s New York City seemed destined to generate controversy even as it was relentlessly promoted by Prime Video. Series creator and executive producer David Weil, at one point, had to defend his show against the Auschwitz Memorial, who criticized its non-historical depiction of the Holocaust and its aftermath. Nevertheless, “Hunters” found a passionate audience for its pulpy blend of violence, action, and comedy.

Now, the show is making its belated return for a second and final season. Fittingly enough, that return happens to coincide with a new wave of controversy surrounding Nazis and the persistence of anti-semitic rhetoric in the United States.

Here’s the concluding season’s official synopsis:

After an accident derails their exploits in Europe, The Hunters must band back together to hunt down history’s most infamous Nazi—Adolf Hitler—who’s hiding in South America. Meanwhile, a look to the past reveals Meyer Offerman encountering a dangerous threat that could unravel his secret and expose his true identity, with explosive reverberations…”

The series’ biggest star, Al Pacino, will return as Meyer Offerman, a Polish-Jewish philanthropist and Holocaust survivor who leads the Hunters. Other returning series regulars include Logan Lerman, Jerrika Hinton, Lena Olin, Josh Radnor, Tiffany Boone, Carol Kane, Louis Ozawa, Kate Mulvany, and Greg Austin. The splashiest addition to this season’s cast is undoubtedly Jennifer Jason Leigh as a formidable Nazi hunter named Chava Apfelbaum. “This is a character who at times may seem very demure,” Weil told EW. “And then we see explosions within her.”

All eight episodes of the “Hunters” epic finale will drop on Prime Video on January 13. Take a look at the trailer below.
