'Inmate #1' Trailer: New Doc Tells The Story Of Danny Trejo's Rise To Fame

Today is Cinco de Mayo, as many people already know. And Universal has decided to “honor and celebrate Mexican heritage” by releasing the new trailer for the upcoming documentary, “Inmate #1: The Rise of Danny Trejo.”

As seen in the trailer for the film, “Inmate #1” tells the story of the Hollywood legend that no one saw coming. The film follows Danny Trejo’s life story from his early days dealing with a world of drugs, armed robbery, and prison time to a career filled with famous friends, blockbuster films, and philanthropic work. It’s a true rags to riches story featuring one of the most celebrated tough guys in cinema.

The film features interviews with Trejo (obviously), as well as Robert Rodriguez, Michelle Rodriguez, Donal Logue, Cheech Marin, Gilbert Trejo, and Danielle Trejo.

“Inmate #1” arrives on VOD on June 22 internationally and July 7 in the US.
