'Invisible Life' Trailer: Amazon Studios Has A Foreign Language Awards Contender Coming In December

Amazon Studios has another Oscar contender coming this fall, but it’s probably not one that you’re thinking about. The studio has finally released the first trailer for “Invisible Life,” and with it, Amazon hopes the drama will be able to land a coveted Best Foreign Language Film nomination.

“Invisible Life” tells the story of two incredibly close sisters that are separated as they both attempt to find their real destinies. One is an accomplished musician that hopes to find success, while the other has always dreamed of true love. Apart, they go on adventures, but they always long to be reunited.

“Invisible Life” has been selected as Brazil’s official entry into the Best Foreign Language Film category at next year’s Oscars. With films like “Parasite,” “Atlantics,” “Les Miserables,” and “Pain & Glory” all competing for the coveted nominations, “Invisible Life” is definitely fighting a bit of an uphill battle. However, in our most recent Oscars Predictions piece, Gregory Ellwood puts the drama as a film that is likely to reach the shortlist for nomination.

The acclaimed film stars Carol Duarte, Julia Stockler, and Fernanda Montenegro. “Invisible Life” is written and directed by veteran filmmaker Karim Aïnouz.

Here’s the synopsis:

Rio de Janeiro, 1950. Eurídice, 18, and Guida, 20, are two inseparable sisters living at home with their conservative parents. Although immersed in a traditional life, each one nourishes a dream: Eurídice of becoming a renowned pianist, Guida of finding true love. In a dramatic turn, they are separated by their father and forced to live apart. They take control of their separate destinies, while never giving up hope of finding each other.
