'Iron Fist S2' Trailer: Bad Memories Don't Just Live In The Past

Following the critical success and popularity of “Daredevil,” “Jessica Jones,” and “Luke Cage,” the 2017 Scott Buck-ran “Iron Fist” became the fourth series in the NetflixMarvel collaboration. Unfortunately, however, unlike the three preceding series, “Iron Fist” faced colossal critical criticism – many claiming the series to be unoriginal and narratively distracted. Nonetheless, despite the general rejection of the first season, the second season of “Iron Fist” was confirmed at “The Defenders” panel at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con. Now, nearly a year later, following a teaser from this year’s SDCC, we have our first trailer for the second season.

Likely as an antidote to the missteps taken under Scott Buck’s direction, Raven Metzner has taken the reigns as the season two showrunner. Metzner is primarily known for producing “Sleepy Hollow” and “Falling Skies” and has shown interest in the fisticuffs-heavy crime genre with his script for Rob Bowman’s 2005 “Elektra.” In a statement, Marvel’s Jeph Loeb expressed his optimism for Metzner’s work on “Iron Fist”: “Raven’s love of all things Iron Fist and his extensive knowledge of martial arts films made him the perfect choice to continue telling the adventures of Danny Rand and Colleen Wing.”

Presumably taking place after the events of “The Defenders” series, the second season of “Iron Fist” will see the return of Finn Jones, Jessica Henwick, Jessica Stroup, and Tom Pelphrey. After wrapping principal photography earlier this year, Finn Jones shared his enthusiasm for the second season on his Instagram: “I think the story we’ve told and the journey the characters have been on this season is unlike anything seen before. I’m proud, exhausted, but above all, ready for all of our hard work to be enjoyed across the world.”

From showrunner Raven Metzner, the second season of “Iron Fist” premieres September 7 on Netflix. Watch the first trailer below and take note at the famous yellow comic book mask that’s finally introduced in the series (but looks pretty silly do please don’t actually use).
