TIFF 2026: ‘Yaga’ Starring Hudson Williams Headlines Primetime Lineup, ‘Crystal Lake,’ ‘Carrie,’ ‘Slow Horses’ S6 & More To Premiere

TIFF 2026 already announced its film slate for this year’s festival two weeks ago, but now it’s time to see what’s in its Primetime slate for TV. And it looks like quite a lineup this year, headlined by four separate Canadian series, most notably “Yaga,” starring “Heated Rivalry” star Hudson Williams.

Williams and Carrie-Anne Moss star in the supernatural thriller, based on the Slavic folkloric figure of the Baba Yaga. The actor will play the scion of a commercial fishing empire who disappears under suspicious circumstances, setting up the show’s central mystery; Moss stars as a university professor whose expertise helps the investigation. The Crave series will reach American audiences later this year via AMC+, and run over eight 30-minute episodes.

The other three series with Canadian credits are as follows: Jesse McKeown‘s “Below” for Netflix, about a remote Newfoundland town terrorized by a sea creature that stars Mackenzie Davis, Charlie Heaton, and Josh Hartnett; Mike Flanagan‘s series remake of “Carrie” for Prime Video; and “Alice,” starring Bérénice Bejo as French film pioneer Alice Guy-Blaché.

Horror looks to be the main entrée in the TIFF Primetime lineup this year, with Brad Caleb Kane‘s “Friday The 13th” prequel series “Crystal Lake” set to premiere as well. The A24-produced show will premiere on Peacock on October 15. That premiere date will cause a tough decision for horror fans, as both “Below” and Flanagan’s “Carrie” series also premiere that month.

Elsewhere, Apple TV mainstay “Slow Horses” will have its international premiere for its sixth season in the lineup. International series “2.6 Seconds: Death In The Outback,” “Blindspot Berlin,” and “Oxygen Masks Will (Not) Drop Automatically” will have premieres in the Primetime programming. Stay tuned for official premiere dates for all shows listed below. TIFF 2026 runs September 10-20 this year.
